Peripheral blood smear from a patient with essential thrombocythemia with a platelet count of 2500.000/mm³, with macroplatelets and giant platelets. (May Grunwald-Giemsa stain, original magnification ×1000). This myeloproliferative disease is associated with JAK2 mutation.
