Dohle bodies may also be found in infection, where they tend to be smaller in size, and usually occur peripherally in the neutrophil, as opposed to in the May-Hegglin anomaly. Toxic granules and cytoplasmic vaculoles in the neutrophils are also seen in infection, and not in May-Hegglin anomaly.
